Something Fancy Thanks & Hello Cards

2 cards made with the Something Fancy Bundle.

Something Fancy To Say

It’s time for a couple more Something Fancy Cards! For the last card in my weekly Card Class From ME, I finished using the Something Fancy Bundle with 2 themes in mind. One is “hello”. The other is “thanks”. Both are great reasons to send a card!

If you missed the other awesome cards in this week’s Something Fancy class, click here to see one.

Double Duty Embossing Folders

The thanks and hello in the background of my cards are actually embossed. I did this courtesy of the Thanks & Hello Embossing Folder 2 pack. These folders are small in stature, measuring just over 6″ long and @3.5″ wide.

Due to the layout of the words “thanks” on one folder and “hello” on the other, all in multiple languages and fonts, you will want to use these embossing folders in the landscape orientation.

Very Fancy Background Layers

I embossed white cardstock with the Thanks & Hello Embossing Folders for my cards. This way, I was able to add some ink color with a Blending Brush to highlight some of the words. It also brought out the color scheme for each card as well.

I continued my use of the Flowers & More Host Designer Series Paper pack, similar to the first 2 cards from this class. For these cards using the Something Fancy Bundle, I chose 2 patterns in 2 completely different colors: Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya.

Both my Stylish Shapes Dies cardstock circle and the Something Fancy Dies sentiment assembly reinforce my chosen colors in purple and peach.

Something Fancy To Finish With

Fancy Sentiments

There are so many great choices in the Something Fancy Dies, it really is easy to pick a couple to layer together for your sentiment. I decided to heat emboss each sentiment from the Something Fancy Stamp Set with White Embossing Powder on color cardstock.

Because my colors are soft and pastel in nature, white embossing isn’t the boldest choice. To adjust my sentiments so that they were easier to read, I added like-color ink to each die cut. The embossed sentiment resists the added ink, while the cardstock surrounding it deepens in color.

Fancy Embellishments

No card is complete without a little ribbon or bling. Since Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya are both In Colors, there are matching styles of ribbon available in each color. I folded over my Open Weave Ribbon instead of creating a swoosh or a bow.

And lastly, I added something fancy in the way of Pearl Basic Jewels. The pearls made an appearance on each of my cards from this week’s Card Class From ME!

Finished Something Fancy Birthday Card.

Something Fancy Card Class, Card 2

As my Something Fancy Card Class continues, I am turning to vibrant, bold and more masculine colors. Each of the cards in this series uses the Something Fancy Stamp Set and Something Fancy Dies.

This card really is the opposite of my first card in this class. To see something in floral purples and pinks using the Something Fancy Bundle, click here.

Some Pretty Fancy Colors

Just like my first card in this weekly card class, I am continuing to use the Flowers & More Host Designer Series Paper pack. This card is clearly the “more” in this huge collection of lovely 12 x12″ papers.

When I chose the designer paper to use for this masculine themed card, I also picked the color palette to match. That is one of the best things about Stampin’ Up!: color coordination is so easy!

I started with a Starry Sky card base, and layered in Parakeet Party, Basic Black and Tahitian Tide.

Layering Diorama Dies

Layering Diorama Dies

I have to admit, it took me a long time to even want to purchase the Layering Diorama Dies. At first, I was not a fan of the unusual blob-like shape. But, after seeing some amazing samples being made with these dies, I decided I had to have them, too!

I die cut my Basic Black layer first. Next, I ran my die cut piece thru my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the brand new Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder.

PRO TIP: die cut first and emboss second.

Some Fancy Black Pearls

Coloring pearls with a Sharpee marker.

The Pearl Basic Jewels come in white. But sometimes, you want something other than white to use as an embellishment. This is where a little creativity comes into play!

Did you know the pearls can be colored? One way to do so is to use any color Sharpie marker you have. This ink will transfer permanently and dry true to new color. Another option is to use the Stampin’ Blends.

PRO TIPS: color the pearls on their original sheet; circle around the bottom for complete coverage; let the ink dry for a few moments before using the newly colored pearl on your project.

A Fancy Belated Birthday Greeting

Sentiment options for the Something Fancy Birthday Card.

It is easy to find a sentiment in the Something Fancy Stamp Set! Likewise, it is easy to find dies in the Something Fancy Dies to use with your sentiment. What is difficult is actually deciding what color inks, cardstock and layering dies you want for your card.

I actually made up 4 different combinations of my sentiment before I made up my mind for the finished card. The picture above shows all the directions I was creatively going in!

Nothing Fancy, Just Love Card

Something Fancy Card Class, Card 1

This week, my featured product is the Something Fancy Bundle! I am using both the Something Fancy Stamp Set and the Something Fancy Dies. But there isn’t really something fancy about either. Check out this blog post where I talk about this bundle and my weekly card class.

I began my class with this card in pinks and purples because it is so easy to gravitate toward this color palette. And flowers are always a beautiful addition to a card. But when you also add a butterfly, the card becomes more magical!

Nothing Fancy But The Elements

While each component of my Something Fancy Card Class card isn’t extra special in any way, it is adding them all together that make it a little…fancy. Let’s break down this card together!

Flowers & More Host Designer Series Paper

While this great big paper pack, Flowers & More, is for hosts only, it is really worth splurging on an order to get it! (Fun Fact: this paper is featured in every card from the Something Fancy Card Class!)

I mentioned this paper pack is huge (48 sheets!), but it also has lots of big bold colors. And it covers a large range of styles too, from feminine to masculine, this is your paper pack! Of course, I chose the Rich Razzleberry and Polished Pink tulip-style flower print for my card.

Pretty Pop-Ups Dies

When I supply you with my weekly card kits from class, I like to send you extra card element pieces that are embossed or die cut with something other than my featured bundle. This way you get to experience new and exciting things without having to purchase everything for yourself!

The Pretty Pop-Ups Dies are pretty fancy. They emboss and die cut the cardstock, but do not cut out the images you see above. Because they are so unique, I just had to use them on my card!

Some Fancy Embellishments

Don’t you think every amazing card needs at least one embellishment? For this special card, I added two different types!

The White Glittered Organdy Ribbon is not my favorite ribbon. While it is true that it has some fun sparkles built right in, it is a bit rough in texture, or un-yielding. But it works well on this card!

And you can’t get a lot fancier than Pearl Basic Jewels. In fact, pearls are my FREE gift to you when your order with Host Code DYA7BFBR is over $50 (before tax and shipping) this week, along with the class card kits!

Something Fancy About That Sentiment

The fanciest bit of something on this card may actually be the sentiment. I heat embossed my stamped image “nothing fancy, just love” from the Something Fancy Stamp Set with White Embossing Powder on Polished Pink Cardstock.

But it really is the dies from the Something Fancy Die set that makes this so awesome! The layering tags are lovely either on their own or coupled and nested together. When you select a tag topper die, things really get interesting! You have 3 options from this amazing die set. I chose the floral die to match my card’s theme.

Something Fancy Card Class

Cards from the Something Fancy Card Class.

Welcome to this week’s card class! I am featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Something Fancy Bundle, and to let you in on a secret, it’s not really that fancy.

But even better than the Something Fancy Stamp Set and Something Fancy Dies, are the limitless possibilities. Because this stamp set is all sentiments, and the dies are all basic outline shapes, you will be able to do something fancy with them!

Something Fancy Bundle

As always, when you purchase the stamp set and coordinating dies as a bundle, you save 10%. Above, I mentioned that the stamp set is completely phrases. There is not a single image. And the dies are very generic, which is in fact a great thing…they will work beautifully with lots of different stamp images you may already own!

Here is a look at the Something Fancy Bundle I am using for week’s Card Class From ME.

Share A Milkshake Specialty Cards

Bonus cards from the Share A Milkshake Card Class

Share A Milkshake Card Class Bonus Cards

All week I have been sharing cards from my weekly Card Class From ME, featuring the Share A Milkshake Bundle. You can view the card assembly process here.

I also like to create a few “bonus” card ideas that are not part of the class kits in the mail. These additional clever cards are meant to inspire you further with the bundle of the week.

Life Is Sweeter With Wafer Cones

My Life Is Sweeter With You Wafer Cone card is one that I CASED from the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog. It features an old fashioned wafer cone, made with Pale Papaya Cardstock. I added a little like color ink along the edges to give my cone some depth. And did you notice the gold embossed sentiment on my Vellum layer? Just divine.

Slimline Ice Cream Mountain Card

And if you are looking for an over-the-top kind of card, go slimline! This funky style allows you to add ice cream a mile high…or at least it feels that way. I made sure to tip some of my scoops to the side, like a large pile of teetering ice cream should look.

I covered the “slot” on each scoop (meant to hold a spoon or straw) by die cutting additional like color cardstock and adhering them to the large scoops. This time I heat embossed my sentiment in White Embossing Powder, and placed my words carefully on the fountain glass.

Life Is Sweeter With Lots Of Color Choices

My Color Swap Card in greens was a change from a card done in blues. It was featured fully on a post from yesterday. You can view that article here.

Share A Milkshake Card Class Alternate Cards

Alternate cards from the Share A Milkshake Card Class

Not Share A Milkshake Bundle Cards

While my card kits are heavy on ice cream this week, I realize not everyone wants this frosty treat on their cards. But did you know you don’t have to use my featured bundle, Share A Milkshake, to create beautiful cards?

When you get my weekly Card Class From ME, I provide the card kits and you choose what you want to stamp with from your supplies at home. Most of the elements of each kit are already punched, embossed or die cut (minus the items from the featured bundle) and you will get cardstock to work with as well. This is your opportunity to change it up!

Here is a look at some “alternate” ideas of what you could create with this week’s class kits:

Happy Birthday Card with Stack Shuffle Repeat

For my first card, I used the same Stack Shuffle Repeat process with the designer series paper. Want to see more on the original card? Click here. The elements of my alternate card are the same as my waffle cone card, I just used less of the paper provided.

I flipped the placement of the Vellum scallop die cut and Petal Pink circle die cut, stamping on the later. I chose the stamp set, Lovely & Lasting for all the imagery on my alternate card. This stamp set is bundled with the Lasting Label Punch, featured on both cards in Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Pretty In Purple

Once again I kept the card kit intact and only used papers included in it for my alternate purple themed card. Instead of a soda fountain drink, complete with straws, I swapped in a simple daisy.

I used the Medium Daisy Punch for 2 white punched pieces. And I just had to add a little Fresh Freesia Ink with a sponge dauber to the tips of the petals.

The specialty papers on this card add a bit of flair without being too blingy. If you would like more information on the original soda fountain card, click here.

So Blue Without You

There are 2 things that are sweet: thinking of you and ice cream. Why not have both? When you get my weekly Card Class From ME, you receive 2 card kits for each of 3 original designs. It is easy to create duplicates that are exact, but even more fun to switch things up!

I kept my alternate card quite simple for this change-up. You may notice that I chose to stamp on the white Basic Border die cut piece. I also turned the direction of the die cut design. Once again, all my stamping on this alternate card came from the Lovely & Lasting Stamp Set.
