Nested Friends Birthday Wishes

Nested Friends Card Class, Card 1

Nested Friends Birthday Wishes Card

Spring is in the air and the birds are singing here in Maine. My Weekly Card Class From ME happens to showcase some feathered fun, also known as the Nested Friends Bundle by Stampin’ Up!. Need more info on this class? Click here.

My weekly card inspiration is really a stroll with Nested Friends thru the seasons. For my first card, Nested Friends Birthday Wishes, in this series, I am really in the spring-like mood! Read on to see how this card design came into being.

The Colors Of Spring

When you start with pretty paper, like the Hello, Irresistible DSP, it is so easy to make a pretty card! And for my “Spring version” of the Nested Friends Birthday Wishes Card, pretty and pink were top of mind.

I also love unusual colors when I create cards, and pink with a bird theme may not be the typical first choice. My selection of the Hello, Irresistible DSP features Flirty Flamingo, and resembles the gorgeous pinks in the sky that you may see first thing in the morning, or perhaps with the setting sun.

My coordinating colors are white, for a pop of brightness, as seen in my matted layer and the bird eggs, as well as the uncolored stamped bird nest. I also chose Crumb Cake, found in the Timber 3D embossed piece that my nest sits on, to the stamping of the nest, and twig die cut as well.

The Nested Friends Dies

My Nested Friends Birthday Card relies heavily on the Nested Friends Dies. I used all 3 dies that make up the birds nest, from the stamped image from the Nested Friends Stamp Set, to both the inner and outer twig die pieces.

Besides the bird nest, I used many of the tiny, perfect in pink leaves dies (I did mention unusual colors!). I die cut Flirty Flamingo leaves and let them dance down my card front. A little glue adhesive goes a long way here! I love that you can die cut so many leaves at once with 4 leaves dies.

Nested Friends Card Class

Nested Friends Bundle

Nested Friends Card Class

Welcome to your Nested Friends Card Class! This week, I am using the Nested Friends Bundle by Stampin’ Up!. This bundle is found in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog, and may be available exclusively online after the catalog sales period ends.

What does that mean? Well, this bundle is not on the retiring list…or on clearance sale like some of the other products right now (60% off!). And this bundle is not in the upcoming 2023-2024 Annual Catalog. That leaves it in limbo…and best purchased now if you love it!

Want to see another card class featuring critters? Check out this aquatic class featuring the Sea Turtle Stamp Set.

The Nested Friends Bundle

The Nested Friends Stamp Set and the Nested Friends Dies make up the Nested Friends Bundle. When you purchase the bundle (both items together using a specific item number) you automatically save 10%.

While either of these items are wonderful separately, using them together is most magical. Three images from the Nested Friends Stamp Set have coordinating dies to cut out the stamped images. The remainder of the dies in the Nested Friends Dies are stand alone images to enhance the stamped ones.

Sea Turtle Card Class

Sea Turtle Stamp Set

Sea Turtle Card Class

Welcome to your Sea Turtle Card Class! This week, I am using the Sea Turtle Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!. This stamp set is a stand alone item, as there are no dies or a punch to go with it.

But, there is a really cool feature to this one! The stamps in the Sea Turtle Stamp Set are Reversible Stamps. Wondering what that means?

These stamps are meant to work both on the front to get a detailed image, and flipped over to the back (or smooth side) to get a shadow image. It is really awesome to play with these, and you can check out my live demo where I did just that by clicking here.

Want to see another card class featuring critters? Check out last week’s class featuring the Easter Bunny Bundle.

The Sea Turtle Stamp Set

The Sea Turtle Stamp Set claims to have 8 stamps in it…and it does. But it also doubles in value because of the Reversible style, making it16 stamped images.

Reversible stamps are very similar to two-step stamping. However, instead of using 2 different stamps to create an image, you are able to use just one stamp, front and back!

The only downside to this feature is that you have to clean your stamp off between flipping it back and forth to use both sides. I find the Simply Shammy is the best way to do this! Make sure you have one (or two!) in your craft room.

Bigger Than Expected Stamps

While the front cover of the Sea Turtle Stamp Set shows smaller images of both the front and back of each stamp, inside the stamp case there is another story! When you flip this stamp set open, you may be surprised to see the real size of each stamp! I just love the big turtle!

Easter Bunny Little Moments Card

Easter Bunny Card Class, Card 3

Easter Bunny Little Moments Card

We are on to the last card from my Weekly Card Class From ME, featuring the Easter Bunny Bundle by Stampin’ Up!. I have had so much fun creating sweet bunny cards this week and sharing them with you!

And perhaps this is the best card for last, it was certainly very popular with my crafty friends. Want to see another bunny card that features the color purple? Click here. I would love to know which card is your favorite!

Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather & Sahara Sand

Once again, I have paired purple and brown to great success. This time, I chose softer versions of each, to make my Easter Bunny Little Moments Card more serene. While the Gorgeous Grape pops with brightness, the complimentary colors of Highland Heather and Sahara Sand blend in so well.

The Tools of the Trade

You will notice that this card has a lot of very easy to cut rectangles and squares. And layers…my favorite!

So to break all of that up (and to give my bunny a spotlight feature), I chose a handful of items to give this card some depth and decor.

The bunny featured in this card is just 1 of 3 bunny images in the Easter Bunny Stamp Set. I stamped my bunny in Memento Black Ink and colored him in with an assortment of Stampin’ Blends. I shared my coloring tips in my cardmaking demo. See the video here.

Color Swap Easter Bunny Card

Every Wednesday, on my FaceBook Group Page, Positive PaperCrafters, I have a feature called ‘Who Wore It Better Wednesday’. And I take a card that I recently made and create the same recipe, but in different colors. Then, everyone gets to vote for their favorite, or who they think “wore it better”.

My Easter Bunny Little Moments Card is my Color Swap Card. And this time, my color choices were So Saffron, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. I also changed my bunny’s color from brown to gray. If you look closely, you will see the other changes I made too!

Easter Bunny Friend Card

Easter Bunny Card Class, Card 2

Easter Bunny Friend Card

We are on to the next card from my Weekly Card Class From ME. And this week features the Easter Bunny Bundle by Stampin’ Up!. Even though the name of the stamp set is “Easter Bunny”, this card is not Easter themed! Instead, it is bunny themed.

No Easter Bunny Punch? No problem! While the Easter Bunny Punch remains on backorder, this card doesn’t even require the use of the punch. Instead, we are framing our bunny friend.

Want to see our first card that used the Easter Bunny Punch 3 times on 1 card? Click here.

Easter Bunny Hues of Happiness

This bright and cheerful card starts out with the color Melon Mambo. Now, that is one happy color!

And to make this Easter Bunny Friend Card even more gorgeous, I chose the Hues of Happiness DSP to use on it. This paper is full of colorful flower imagery. Most of the 12 x 12 sheets have a rainbow of color on them.

How to choose from all those colors? I got creative and cut a strip 12″ long to capture every color hue. Then, I cut that 12″ strip into 3 sections to use on my card front. Crafty and clever!

Easter Bunny Fabulous Frames

I chose the Fabulous Frames to showcase my bunny for this card from my Weekly Card Class From ME. These dies are in the Annual Catalog, but because they are a stand alone product (not part of a bundle) they are easy to miss.

When you die cut the frames, you will get both an outer frame and the inner section separately. This gives you lots of options! You can use them together, or die cut different colors like I did, and use them that way.

Colorful Easter Bunnies

One of my favorite ways to color stamped images is to use Stampin’ Blends. For this Easter Bunny Friend Card, I chose the gray color palette. I shared my best coloring tips during my live demonstration. You will find that video here.

Something else that make my bunny extra sweet is the addition of stamps from the Easter Bunny Stamp Set. Not only did I have room for the bunny in my chosen frame, I also added in some grass and a butterfly softly landing on my bunny’s upturned face.
