Beautiful Balloons Happy Birthday Card

Beautiful Balloons Card Class, Card 2

Beautiful Balloons Happy Birthday Card

My Weekly Card Class From ME happens to showcase a pretty awesome feature: celebrations! Our focus this week is the Beautiful Balloons Bundle by Stampin’ Up!. Need more info on this class? Click here.

Perhaps the most common type of card we make is a birthday card. If you need a celebratory card, you may need a balloon or two. And the Beautiful Balloons Bundle is just the thing to help you make the happiest kinds of birthday cards!

More Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper

Just like in the first card from this class, Beautiful Balloons Yay You, I chose a selection of designer series paper from the Bright & Beautiful paper pack.

Unlike my first card, this time I chose a softer, more mono-tone pattern. I just love that you can choose Bright & bold looks, or Beautiful muted styles. This 6 x 6″ paper pack is just amazing like this!

Berry Burst & Bubble Bath

When Stampin’ Up! completed their color refresh with the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog, they brought back the 2017-2019 In Color, Berry Burst.

FUN FACT: I shared a peek at my old Berry Burst ink pad, the classic bulky-style kind, before the modern one we know and love now. You can see this and more in my video replay from this class.

For my Beautiful Balloons Happy Birthday Card, I paired the (old) Berry Burst with the (new) Bubble Bath. These bright pink tones work perfectly together! Love the new Bubble Bath color? Click here to see another birthday card made in that pretty shade of pink.

Who Wore It Better: The Color Swap

Every Wednesday on the Positive PaperCrafters FaceBook Page, we play a game called “Who Wore It Better?”. I take one of my card class cards and switch up the colors I used. This week, I chose to swap out Berry Burst and Bubble Bath for Lemon Lime Twist and Lemon Lolly!

I enjoy playing with color (a lot!). And this is a great way to share more inspiration in cardmaking. Just because you see a card picture in any given color, doesn’t mean you have to make it in that color when you create your own version.

Tell me who wore it better and let your own creativity flow…in any color you love!

Circle Sayings Birthday Card

Circle Sayings Card Class, Card 2

Circle Sayings Birthday Card

We are on to the next card from my Weekly Card Class From ME. And this week features the Circle Sayings Bundle by Stampin’ Up!. While this card is so pretty in pink, I have pulled in a couple of deeper colors for contrast.

All of the tones on this card are new colors to the Stampin’ Up! Family. Want to see our first card in the newest blue tone using the Circular Sayings Bundle? Click here.

Bubble Bath Pink

As mentioned above, this Circle Sayings Birthday Card features brand new colors. The card base here is in Bubble Bath, an adorable pink that has purple undertones to it. This sweet pink color is perfect for baby girl cards, ballet pink cards, and sugared cupcake cards too!

Circle Sayings Stamp Set

The Circle Sayings Stamp Set has both sentiments and images that work perfectly with the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch and without! For my card, I chose the Happy Birthday sentiment and used it to create an awesome background in Bubble Bath Ink on White Cardstock.

I stamped the Celebrate sentiment in Moody Mauve Ink, a new In Color, on White Cardstock that I punched with the circle punch. The words “celebrate” form a circle on the stamp, so I only had to ink and stamp once to get the image that you see here.

Cupcake Designer Series Paper

For the cupcake on my Circle Saying Birthday Card, I chose to stamp the wrapper on Bubble Bath designer series paper.

I chose the polka dot pattern from the Subtles Collection, and stamped in Copper Clay Ink. Next, I fussy cut the wrapper and adhered it to another cupcake image that I stamped and fussy cut from White Cardstock.

Birthdays Are For Everyone

Happy Birthday To You

Today, I am highlighting the Happy Birthday to You Stamp Set, FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 order, and the Coordination Product Release, Birthday Dies. The coordinating dies are only available while supplies last.

This particular stamp set features a tiered cake decorated with flowers, complete with fancy cake pedestal. The sentiments cover solid reasons to eat cake: “Happy Birthday” and “celebrate”. Additionally, the phrase “To You” is included, and a stamp that could be used as sprinkles, confetti, or a shading accent.

Happy Birthday To You, #152308, 5 cling stamps

Birthday Fun Fact #1: The most celebrated date of birth in the world is Christmas Day!

Birthday Dies

The Coordination Product Release of the Birthday Dies makes cutting cake super easy! With the assist of your die cutting machine, you will have nice images of the cake on its stand, and separately, the trio of decorative flowers. An additional, larger cake stand as well as delicate leaves and sprigs complete the set.

Birthday Dies, #153590, 5 dies

Birthday Fun Fact #2: When your age and date of birth are the same, this is known as your “Golden Birthday.

Cards Created

I combined the stamp set and dies to make 3 uniquely different cards. Here are pictures of each with a little detail in the design process.

More Cake, Please

I love chocolate cake. And the more chocolate cake, the better. In this card, I expanded the cake to make it taller by stamping and die cutting 2 cakes and attaching an extra layer to the bottom. Each cake is made with Soft Suede paper and ink, and sponged to deepen the rich brown color.

Bring out the special cake stand for this beautiful baked goodness! I die cut the stand using Gold Foil Sheets. Stampin’ Up! sells foil sheets in black, champagne, copper and silver also. By removing the stamped cake stand with scissors, the die cut stand fits perfectly.

We eat with our eyes. This cake is made more appetizing with gorgeous floral decorations. I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper and heat embossed with white powder before aqua-painting in blue, green and yellow. In addition, the die cut leaves in Pear Pizzazz and sprigs in Daffodil Delight create volume.

Birthday Fun Fact #3: “Birthday Paradox” is the likelihood that out of 23 people, there is a 50/50 chance that two of them will have the same birthday.

Sepia Birthday Card

This elegant tonal card says “happy birthday”. But you could easily use the “celebrate” sentiment for a wedding or bridal shower card. Furthermore, by using only 2 colors (Very Vanilla and Soft Suede) the palette remains neutral and refined.

I stamped the cake on watercolor paper and heat embossed with white powder. After I die cut the image, the entire piece was aqua-painted in Soft Suede. A higher ink concentration for the cake deepened the color.

Sometimes, cards need a little lift. Stampin’ Up has numerous embossing folders to choose from to create texture. Here, I chose the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and the Heirloom Frames Embossing Folder. Lastly, I attached the die cut cake and fussy cut sentiment with dimensionals for added stature.

Birthday Fun Fact #4: The month with the most birthday celebrations all over the world is…August. Runners up include calendar neighbors, July and September.

3 x 3 Mini

This little note card is dairy free, gluten free, calorie free and cake free. It is simply the die cut flowers! I stamped the image in memento ink and colored with a variety of Stampin’ Blends. The dies make it so easy to take the cake off the menu.

My mini card has spring color accents from Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron cardstock. I added elegance with a few adhesive pearls. The stamped sentiment “for you” comes from the set ‘Itty Bitty Greetings’, a perfect compliment to this teeny tiny card.

Birthday Fun Fact #5: More than 2 billion birthday cards are sent every year.
